Welcome! I am the mother of four young children, an artist, and the wife of a firefighter in Northern California. Grab a beverage, pull up a chair, and come play at my house!
Here are some of my favorite insect pictures that my husband and I have taken over the years. I'd tell you who of the two of us took which picture, but I honestly have no clue, except for this first shot — it was taken by my firefighter in his parents' back yard (if I remember correctly. And we all know how small the odds are that I've remembered correctly.) I've been having fun manipulating the pictures with our soon to expire Lightroom beta. If you want to see some really cool bug photographs, go check The Pioneer Woman's site.
My homage to bugs, before I obliterate the ones lurking in my garage this weekend. :)
These are all incredible photos! You have one heck of a macro lens. I'm jealous. And you better have submitted these to PW's contest. I've submitted a couple, but no luck at being selected!
Oh, and yes apparently I was selected for the SITs potluck! I had no idea until this morning.
Thanks! :D Jen, I have submitted to the PW contests, but I've never been picked, either. :( I figure that since I'm putting so much time and effort into these shots anyway, I shouldn't let them just languish away on Flickr!
And my macro lens - it's the one redeeming quality of this non-DSLR camera. It's fantastic! In it's glory days, the "super macro" setting could focus on a speck of dust stuck to the lens.
First of all, thanks for the recent join to my blog followers! Just curious, how'd you find me? Be sure to sign my visitor log. I'd love to hear from you.
Secondly, BEAUTIFUL photos! The first thing I thought when I saw the first photo (without reading any text) was she needs to post this on Pioneer Woman's site. Then I read the text... I chuckled. You, too, are a PW fan. :)
These photos are terrific. Reminds me of the film Metamorphosis - have you seen it? It's a French doc that goes deep into the heart of bug and plant life. It's really a hidden world. Thanks for posting, you make me want to grab my camera and go capture life outside.

I hate bugs! But these pics are great! They actually look beautiful.
I don't think I've ever seen pictures of insects that didn't give me the creeps. Great photos!

Great pictures! I've been enjoying all of the ones on The Pioneer Woman's page. Which one did you submit???
Wow. Your bugs are gorgeous! I hope that she picks one of your pictures as her favorite :) You did a fabulous job!

This just shows how bugs ought to be looked at -- in photographs only! Good luck with your war on the bugs!
Great pics. Seriously. I looked at 'em all. And I have a serious phobia of all insects.
